About

ABOUT

Proto-Type are a group of young creatives, exploring the intersection between art and technology.  Meeting regularly, the collective provides a rolling programme of artistic development, where members are invited to create, experiment, take risks, share skills, formulate ideas, collaborate and develop their artistic practice.

 

Proto-Type is for creatives under the age of 25, living or working in Nottinghamshire, with a passion for digital arts & technology.  It is designed to help bridge the transition into becoming a full-time artist, working in the creative industries or pursuing a creative career.

Meeting at Studio Urban Projections, (located at the Harley Foundation, Welbeck), the group have full access to a state-of-the-art workspace, equipped with digital technologies, tools, proto-typing facilities and a range of softwares.  

The programme includes:

- Inspirational visiting artists talks & practical workshops

- One-to-one mentoring sessions

- Opportunities to develop personal projects

- Experience developing large-scale immersive projects

- Workshops & artists toolkits for working as a creative freelancer

- Opportunities for micro commissions

 

WHO

The programme is created and mentored by Urban Projections (Rebecca Smith).  With over 20 years experience as a professional artist, Rebecca has worked with the most prolific names in music, fashion, TV and creative industries.  Her work spans a wide array of creative and immersive technologies.

 

sharing her enthusiasm and passion for arts and technology she actively encourages new and creative ways of exchanging new media practice. Rebecca is an active advocate for the encouragement of women, lgbtq+ and under-represented communities in the arts, and technology sector.
