AI Zine Making With Dizzy Ink

The zine-making workshop provided a fascinating glimpse into a rich cultural tradition rooted in grassroots expression and self-publishing. Originating in the early 20th century, zines emerged as a medium for individuals to share their ideas, stories, and artwork outside the mainstream publishing industry. Often photocopied and distributed in small batches, zines offered a platform for marginalized voices and alternative perspectives.

Throughout history, zines have been used to address a wide range of topics, from politics and activism to music, art, and personal narratives. They became particularly prominent during the punk movement of the 1970s and 1980s, serving as a means of rebellion against mainstream media and corporate influence.

The zine-making workshop embraced this DIY ethos, empowering participants to create their own zines using simple materials and techniques. From folding and binding to collage and illustration, attendees explored various methods of zine production, embracing the freedom and creativity inherent in the medium.
